Linea Stays logo, designed for life in between
The front of the Linea Stays house at golden hour, with the driveway, open garage and front door

The house, briefly.

The handful of things worth looking up once — heat, laundry, trash day, and the two or three things that are not where you would expect them to be.

Settling in
Arriving, and getting online.
Check-in is from 3:00 p.m. and checkout is 11:00 a.m. Entry is a Yale smart lock, so there is no key to collect and no one to meet — your code is in your arrival message and it works from the moment your stay begins.
The internet is gigabit Google Fiber, which means calls hold and two people can work at once without negotiating. Your network name and password are in the same arrival message as your door code.
The televisions are Apple TV with YouTube TV already signed in. Sign into your own streaming accounts if you like — just sign out before you go, so the next guest doesn't land in your queue.
Warm, cool, and lit
Set it however you like it.
Thermostat
Nest Learning Thermostat
Set it wherever you are comfortable. There is no range we would rather you stay inside and nothing to ask permission for — this is your house while you are here.
A remote sensor keeps the temperature honest in the room that matters rather than only at the hallway wall. The thermostat also learns, so a day or two in it will start anticipating you.
Fireplace
Gas, by remote
Remote start. No wood, no matches, no waiting. Turn it off before you leave the house or go to bed.
Outside
The porch lights know when it's dusk
The front and back porch lights run on a daylight sensor. They come on as the light goes and switch themselves off in the morning — nothing to flip, and nothing to remember on your way to bed.
The canopy lights on the back patio are the exception: plug them in when you want them, and unplug them before bed. The outlet is on the wall behind the planter to the right of the sliding door.
Patio · Table lights
Portable, and they come back in
The table lights are cordless. Carry them out, put them wherever the evening is happening, and bring them back inside when you are done.
Same goes for everything else that makes it outside — glassware, cushions, blankets, books. Whatever comes out, goes back in. Kansas City weather turns without asking, and most of what gets left on the patio overnight does not survive the week.
Not where you'd expect
The microwave is in the pantry.
It is tucked into the pantry rather than out on the counter, and the door locks by default. Press 0 to unlock it, then open as usual.
That is the one that catches people. Everything else in the kitchen is where you would look for it.
Laundry
Next to the cycling studio.
The washer and dryer sit beside the Peloton studio, with a folding station alongside them. Detergent and dryer sheets are already there — nothing to buy and nothing to bring.
One ask, and it matters more than it sounds: empty the lint tray after every use. It keeps the dryer working properly and it is the single most common cause of a dryer fire.
Trash & recycling
Thursday is collection day.
Inside, the bin is a slide-out drawer to the left of the kitchen sink. Outside, there are two larger carts.
Green cart
Household waste.
Yellow cart
Recycling.
Carts go to the curb Wednesday night and come back in Thursday after collection.
Short stays
We handle it. Use the bins and leave the rest to us.
Mid-term stays
Taking the carts out and bringing them back is yours, the same as it would be at home.
The short list
A few house rules.
  • Parking is free and on-site, with an attached garage.
  • Quiet hours are 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The neighbors are good ones.
  • No smoking or vaping anywhere on the property.
  • No events or parties.
  • Anything taken out to the patio comes back inside before the night is over.
  • There is an exterior security camera, plus smoke and carbon monoxide alarms inside.
If something breaks
Tell us. That is the whole ask.
An honest accident is on us. Things break and it happens — we would rather hear it from you than find it after you have gone, because it means the next guest walks into a house that works.
Short stays
Covered by the house rules and booking terms you agreed to when you reserved.
Mid-term stays
Covered by the rental agreement you signed before move-in.
Loss, misuse, or damage beyond ordinary wear falls under those terms. Text us anytime, or read the Terms of Service.
